Identifying a Problem

As we age, new challenges effect our lives. This is true for seniors too. Our team met with two senior partners to learn more about the challenges that seniors experience. Additionally, we researched to find common senior challenges. Our team identified two challenges that we thoughts were very common for seniors: 1) difficulties with using new technologies, and 2) confusion about medication that often leads to hospitalization and/or death. The Senior Solution project instructions recommended that we identified one problem and then develop an original solution to that problem. So we chose the second problem because it seemed more important. Next, we researched existing solutions to that problem. We found that there are several types of medicine dispensing machines for sell that can be programmed to prevent mistakes in taking medication, but we realized that the first problem, seniors using technology, is preventing the accurate use of these machines.
